16 km south of the town on the National Highway is the largest and best preserved fort in the whole of Kerala, girded by a splendid beach. It is Shaped like a giant keyhole, this historical fort offers a superb view of the Arabian sea from its tall observation towers, where a few centuries ago huge cannons were strategically placed.
This district is even called as 'land of gods' as it is gifted with all these marvelous things.
